If you want to sell your home but don’t have a lot of money to help your house stand out, what should you do? Great news: There are four things you can do to prepare your home for sale while staying on a budget:
1. Declutter. This doesn’t cost anything and can make a massive difference in how your house shows. With less stuff in the home, it will naturally feel larger. It will be airier and more inviting to buyers. It isn’t too hard and only takes a bit of time if you plan in advance.
2. Paint. Depending on the paint already inside your house, a new coat could substantially help your sale, and it’s not especially expensive. Most people can paint the whole inside of their home for between $1,000 and $1,500. You want to be sure you have modern, neutral colors like off-white or light gray to appeal to more buyers. This can change the whole demeanor of your house.
3. Curb appeal. Curb appeal is the buyer’s first impression when approaching the property, so it must be engaging from the outside. Boost your curb appeal by landscaping, laying new mulch, and having green grass. This can go a long way in helping buyers picture what the home will be like when they live there.
4. Eliminate odors. Sometimes we go “nose blind” to things we smell all the time, like old carpet, pets, and smoke. Eradicating these can help more buyers be interested in your house.
